STUDENT GUIDELINES

These guidelines help every student get the most out of class and keep the classroom safe and focused. Please review them with your child before their first class. Section 1 applies to every class; the following sections cover rules for each course.

1. All Classes

Personal Electronics

  • Do not play with phones, tablets, game devices, or other personal electronics during class
  • Use an electronic device only when an instructor asks you to
  • Keep personal devices put away and silenced for the whole class

Classroom Conduct

  • Arrive on time and be ready to learn when class begins
  • Be respectful and kind to instructors and classmates
  • Raise your hand to ask a question or ask for help
  • Help clean up your workspace before leaving

2. VEX IQ STEMLab

Instruction Time

  • Listen to the instructor's instructions until build time starts
  • Keep robot kits and parts closed until the instructor starts build time

Build Time

  • Work together with your team and take turns in each role (builder, programmer, driver)
  • Follow the project challenge the instructor gives you

Equipment Care

  • Handle robot parts carefully and keep small parts in the kit trays
  • Tell the instructor right away about any broken or missing parts
  • Return every part to the kit at the end of class

3. VEX GO Robotics

Instruction Time

  • Listen to the instructor's instructions until build time starts
  • Keep robot kits and parts closed until the instructor starts build time

Build Time

  • Take turns and share parts with your partner
  • Ask the instructor for help when you get stuck

Equipment Care

  • Keep small pieces on the table or in the kit bin
  • Help put every part back in the kit at the end of class

4. Programming with Python

What to Bring

  • Bring your own laptop to every class
  • Make sure the laptop is fully charged and bring its charger
  • A tablet or phone cannot be used in place of a laptop

Laptop Use in Class

  • Use your laptop only for class activities the instructor assigns
  • No games, videos, or unrelated websites during class
  • Lower your laptop screen while the instructor is giving instructions
